With the opening of insolvency proceedings on March 1, 2025, the Cogitanda Group (Cogitanda) was sold to DGC AG (German Society for Cyber Security). The DGC Group sees the integration of Cogitanda as a significant strengthening of its portfolio.
The Cogitanda Group was one of the first specialized providers of cyber insurance in Germany. In 2023, the company ran into economic difficulties due to high costs in the insurance business and had to file for bankruptcy in November 2024 despite a restructuring of its policy portfolio.
The Cologne District Court appointed lawyer Philip Schober, partner in the nationwide law firm Brinkmann & Partner, as insolvency administrator. Restructuring expert Philip Schober explains: “Despite a complex initial situation in sensitive insurance, we have succeeded in creating a sustainable future solution for COGITANDA. Helping the risk takers in insolvency filing proceedings was of great importance, as this enabled us to continue the business operations of all five companies. ”
novaerion GmbH was commissioned to structure the investor process. Under the leadership of partner Robert Neufeld, the novaerion team, including Yili Westhausen and Jannick Reppin, succeeded in finding a suitable buyer for the group of companies during preliminary insolvency proceedings. “We are very pleased that we were able to find a solution in this demanding process in a very short time and would like to thank all parties involved in the process for their joint success,” says Robert Neufeld.
